Sweet Lullaby - a must listen piece of art

Until now, I never thought of knowing the meaning of this very relaxing song. This is a sad song describing a teen brother’s words for his younger sibling after their father is gone. Singer of this song is believed to be a tribal woman named “Afunakwa” from Solomons island of Malaita which died in 1998.

Exact lyrics of sweet lullaby

Sa ziza zecob dela dalou'a
Boralea'e borale mi komi oula
Etawuae'o ela'o coralia wu'aila
Ilei pandera zel e' tomu pere no mo mai
Alatawuané icas imani'u
Barletas e'e barkia'a
Pro'e lai e'le a pantou la'u
Ilei pandera zel e' tomu pere no mo mai

Sa ziza zecob dela dalou'a
Boralea'e borale mi komi oula
Alatawuané icas iwua'oula
Ilei pandera zel e' tomu pere no mo mai

Meaning:

Little brother, little brother, stop crying, stop crying
Though you are crying and crying, who else will carry you
Who else will groom you, both of us are now orphans
From the island of the dead, their spirit will continue to look after us
Just like royalty, taken care of with all the wisdom of such a place.
